Played along with Tracy Weinzapfel during tonight's Mixed Media Monday episode on Ustream.

This was my first time to ever play along while she does her thing.  It was fun.  I had to make a lot of substitutions, as I didn't have anything exactly like she was using.  Plus Ustream, or my computer, not sure which, kept acting up and I missed huge chunks of the show, but after awhile, it didn't really matter, I was in motion so I just kept going.

I really want to add more to this, but haven't found what yet...I know I want my white pen to do something to the letters and I think I want to stamp some texture in a few places, but haven't found what I want yet.  I will.

She put the word GROW on her painting, but I wanted to use PLAY because it is my word for 2015, and since I was 'playing along' with her, it just seemed right to add that word to my painting.

UPDATE:  1-21-15
In the wee hours of the morning, I decided I wanted to add some ladybugs from a new stamp and die set I bought last weekend.  Those ladybugs are a small part of a larger image from the Heartfelt Creations Classic Sunflower stamp, to get the ladybugs you also have to stamp and die cut the flowers.  Since I had the flowers right there, I added a few of those to the page, too.  This is the finished piece...and yes, I realize now that I dated it wrong.  This is how my brain works...I actually got the year correct, but my head is apparently still in December!  LOL  Whatever, it was already in the frame when I realized my mistake and I am just not going to remove it to amend the date.  ;)

Here it is framed and hanging on my wall where I will see it every day to remind myself to remember to PLAY.

p.s.  If anyone can give me some pointers on getting the pix to go where I want them to go in my posts, please give me a heads up.  I used to be able to just drag them where I wanted them, but it seems they've removed that feature...the final pic, the framed one actually went where I intended, but the others posted above the text where I wanted them to show...I don't know what I did differently with the last one....so yeah, some tips would be awesome!   :)

Seasons of Change Blog Hop -- Pix Fixed! :D

Welcome to the Scrapbook Challenges Seasons of Change Blog Hop!

If this is your first stop, you are going to want to go to Pamela's Blog so you can start at the beginning of the hop.

As you hop along you will meet and be able to welcome the newest members of the Design Team and have a chance to say 'so long' to those who are 'retiring'.

I am one of those who are retiring, after two terms on the team. I have loved being on the team, but life dictates that it is time for me to move on to other ventures for awhile. I want to thank Pamela for giving me the opportunity to be on the Scrapbook Challenges Design Team -- I have enjoyed the experience and learned a lot from her and my fellow designers.

While I will miss being a member of the design team, I will still be around Scrapbook Challenges, so hop by my profile from time to time to say 'hi' and I'll do the same. :D

Pamela designed a sketch for this blog hop:

Here is my take on her sketch:

Italic
Journaling says: " *55*menopausal*not quite married*not yet single*mom to two young adults*Is it too late to be cute? hehehe

I've been thinking I may change the title to reflect that last line in the journaling. What do you think?

I hope you will "Hop On" this Seasons of Change Blog Hop and if you do, you will be entered in a drawing for an awesome prize! In fact, there are many ways to get entered into several drawings for awesome prizes! If you haven't made your way to Pamela's blog yet, then get yourself over there now so you can learn more about these prizes and how to win them!

After leaving a comment here on my blog, hop on over to Amanda's blog to learn more about her and to see her take on the sketch!

Just in case you get lost along the way...here is a list of the blog s in the order you'll want to visit them. Have fun and I'll see you at Scrapbook Challenges! :D

Scrapbook Challenges NSD Blog Hop!!!

Well, friends and followers, I've been neglecting my blog for far too long, and a very special event has me posting today!

If you hopped over here from Jamie's blog, "paper heArt project", then you are in the right place! Welcome! If this is your first stop on the Blog Hop then you will want to start at Pamela's World of Scrap and visit the other blogs before mine -- I don't want you to miss a thing in this fun adventure! Especially the chance to meet the newest Scrapbook Challenges Design Team members, as well as getting reacquainted with returning DT members. I am happy to be returning to the DT for my second term! :D

A little about me: I am a wife, a mom to two boys (well, okay, I guess technically they are 'men' now, but they will always be my 'boys' LOL). Scrapbooking is such a blessing in my life...it gives me the opportunity to express my love for my family and to share my perspective of the events of our lives. I LOVE knowing that I am documenting small and big moments in our lives to be enjoyed for years to come...even when I am no longer here to tell the stories, my scrapbooks will be here to tell them again and again. I LOVE that! And I thoroughly enjoy the creative aspect of scrapbooking! When I get going the hours just melt away...it has happened more than once that I'll be going like gangbusters and suddenly look at the clock and realize it is 4 in the morning! I am sure many of you can relate! :D

As you travel along this blog hop you will see each Design Team member's interpretation of this sketch, by Pamela!

Here is mine:

Now what would a Blog Hop be without PRIZES? Pamela has rounded up some AWESOME prizes, too! Everyone who leaves a comment on ALL blogs, gets entered into a drawing for the April Scarlet Lime kit. Everyone who does a layout based on the sketch this weekend and posts it in the Hop On section will get entered into a drawing for the "My Family" line from Fancy Pants Designs. :) There is also a Prima RAK up for joining SC and another Prima RAK for inviting to SC. All these prizes are gorgeous

Thank you for visiting my blog today....Please remember to leave a comment so you can be entered in the drawing for that YUMMY Scarlet Lime kit!

What is a Scrapbook Diva?

In a blog contest (see post below this one) we were asked to define "Scrapbook Diva".

This is my definition:

A Scrap Diva is a modern day goddess! As such, she is a creator. She creates page after page preserving memories and life events for herself and her loved ones. She is successful at documenting big and small moments, good and bad times, and everything in between.

No self-respecting Scrap Diva could call herself that without the occasional bit of glamor...which can always be found in sweet and unexpected ways on the pages of her Books of Life!

I will be doing a layout based on this soon...so be watching. :)

2010 Scrappy Flight Plan

hehehehe -- well, really they are goals...but sticking with the theme of my blog, thought I'd give them a fitting name, therefore, "flight plan". :)

I just posted this in my friend Icing's myspace group and thought it would be a good idea to post them here, too:

My most basic goal is one layout a week. Anything above and beyond that will be gravy!

However, I’d also like to have those layouts look more ’polished’....I’m not really sure that is the right word, but it’s the only one I can think of that comes close. What I want is for my layouts to look more finished, to have more depth and texture and...and whatever it is that I am seeing is lacking, but haven’t been able to name or even identify yet. Whatever it is, I know that it's something I have to reach inside and find...I've been practicing and playing with techniques for awhile now, but now it's time to reach inside and 'make it mine'!

I want to find and develop ’my style’ more fully.

Such a difficult goal to articulate and possibly to accomplish, but that’s probably my biggest scrapping goal for the year.

Welcome to my blog, which is stop #5 on the Scrapbook Challenges New Year's Blog Hop! If you just hopped in here you are going to want to start at the beginning, which is Pamela Young's blog. Why start there? Well, if you visit each Design Team member's blog and leave a comment on each one you will be entered in a drawing for a FABULOUS prize -- a gorgeous collection of goodies from "My Little Shoebox"!

My name is Debi Wallace, and I am one of the newest members of the Scrapbook Challenges Design Team. I am excited about being selected and looking forward to the experience and to working with so many wonderfully talented women!

I was introduced to scrapping in the mid-90s. As my children got older and more active, I drifted away from scrapping for a number of years. Now that my children are older, driving and able to get themselves to their activities, I once again have time to scrap! Whoot! I've been back at it for about 3 years now and it is such an integral part of my life, I can't imagine ever NOT scrapping.

My style tends to be clean and simple, but I do enjoy exploring new techniques and playing with new products.

Here is an example of my work -- a layout based on one of Pamela's awesome sketches!

Pamela's Sketch (#179):

I've been mentioning "Scrapbook Challenges" quite a bit in this post, but I'm thinking I need to take a moment to make sure you know what that is -- it is a fabulous scrapbooking community on the Ning network. If you aren't already a member I encourage you to jump over there (here's a link for you) and sign up right now! You will be glad that you did...and once you are a member, be sure and send me a friend request. :)

In the mood for more chances to win awesome prizes? Well, guess what -- there are several INCREDIBLE prizes to be won and many different ways to win them:

  • If you are a member of Scrapbook Challenges and you do a layout based on the sketch and post in the "Hop On' thread you will be entered in a drawing to win the Basic Grey Origins Collection.
  • There are TWO beautiful Prima packs to be given away in two drawings. If you are a member of Scrapbook Challenges and use the invite feature on the group to invite a friend your name will be entered in the drawing for one of the packs. The other pack is for someone who JOINS the group this weekend (as if you needed more incentive to join this fabulous group)!
  • The last prize is a chipboard album and and a collection of Rusty Pickle trim! To be entered in this drawing you need to visit the "Hop On" topic at Scrapbook Challenges and visit the member's blogs posted there. Be sure and leave a comment on each one of those blogs to be entered in the drawing!
All right, time to hop on over to the next stop in the Scrapbook Challenges New Year's Blog Hop, but remember to leave a comment here before you leave...now hop on over to Marilyn's Blog! Happy New Year!
